Gingrich says his book is about surprise, the Second World War and how Americans reacted. He says the 1940s are very similar to what we've had to deal with since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, but there are also some differences.

"When we were hit at Pearl Harbor, we reacted much more aggressively than we have reacted since 9/11,” he said. “And there's huge differences between how we reacted in World War II and how we've reacted in the past five and a half years."
