CMC opens clinic in grocery store

CHARLOTTE -- Carolinas Medical Center has a new alternative for the patient on the go. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Wednesday for the CMS Express Clinic.

The new clinic, located at the Harris Teeter shopping center on Matthews Township Parkway, will handle small injuries and sicknesses as well as offer vaccinations with no appointments needed.

The hospital says this clinic is perfect for folks too busy to squeeze in a trip to their usual doctor.

"These are people not sick enough to be piled up in bed at home,” said CMC supervising physician Sara Allgood. “They’re out shopping and running their errands but they can get those things taken care of while they are out doing this in their neighborhood store."

CMC says if it is a success, it'll consider expanding express clinics into other Harris Teeter stores.
