JAMESTOWN, N.C. -- More than 650 swimmers are in Guilford County this weekend for the 20th annual Furniture City Swim Meet.

"This is a very exciting event for High Point, Jamestown and High Point swim club," Chris Coble with the High Point Swim Club said.

The three-day event draws in swimmers from the Triad, Raleigh, Charlotte and other parts of the Southeast.

"It's just, it's fun really swimming … it gives you a rush when you win and you get a good time," Mecklenburg Aquatic Club swimmer, Jacqueline Pennington said.

And Coble says many swimmers could potential break some records this weekend.

"The seed times that we have been presented with for this meet, those seed times already break many of the records that have been standing for the last 12 years."

And some swimmers are even competing this weekend for the 2008 Olympic Trials.

"If they make a cut time during this meet, then hopefully they will be at the Olympic Trials for further cuts for Olympics so it's a very exciting time. We've got fast swimmers and it's fast water," Coble added.

The Furniture City Swim Meet continues at Jamestown's City Lake Park on Saturday and Sunday with races starting at 7:45 a.m. each morning.
