Reward offered in Sun-drop shootings
A gunman shot two people at the Sun-drop Bottling Plant on June 13.
CONCORD -- Concord police have offered a $50,000 reward for information in the Sun-drop bottling company double murder. A gunman shot two people at the plant on June 13. Police hope the sizeable reward will bring witnesses forward, but not everyone is so sure.
"Due to the generosity of and interest of the beverage industry, and concerned citizens, there's been a reward established for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Donna Barnhardt and Darrel Nolles,” Guy Smith, a spokesman for the Concord Police Department, said.
Barnhardt, 59, had worked at the bottling plant for 18 years, while Noles, 44, was there applying for a job.
"There's a lot of concern for the families of both victims, there's concern for the employees at Sun-drop, and there is concern for the community, and we want to bring closure to this as soon as possible,” Smith added.

Although police are offering a hefty reward, not everyone thinks it will help.
"Fifty-thousand dollars is a lot of money, but it's not going to catch a criminal. They said a medium-sized man with dreadlocks, pants and a white shirt. If I had dreadlocks and I had killed someone, I would just cut them off," Concord resident Kevin Rauvola said.
Reward or no reward, police said they just want those with information to come forward.
"We want any information. You might think it's a small piece of information, but that could be the piece we're looking for, so we want any information possible,” Officer Eric Sossoman explained.
The State Highway Patrol and Concord police say the suspect is a black man in his 20s with shoulder-length dreadlocks. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. Police said he was also carrying some type of box.
