The five pillars of health
Making exercise a priority is making yourself a priority.
Whether you're old or young, rich or poor, male or female, to live life to the fullest, you need to be in good health. And good health is often a direct result of making healthy lifestyle choices in five areas we like to refer to as the five pillars of total body wellness.
First you need to MOVE.
“Making exercise a priority is making yourself a priority,” said exercise specialist Shira Capellini, MS. “Find the time to do it during the day by making an appointment with yourself, holding yourself accountable. If you can't fit it in all at once, break it into short segments.
Then you need the right FUEL.

“Organic farmers feed the soil through composting, through rock powder amendments; we grow crops that we till back into the soil just for the soil,” organic farmer Sammy Koenigsberg said. “A healthy soil makes a healthy vegetable; we eat it-we have healthy bodies. “
You need to take time to RELAX.
“Sleep can affect numerous parts of your overall health including your immune system, your heart disease, your weight,” said Dr. Jaspal Singh, a pulmonologist.
Make sure you MAINTAIN.
“I think everyone needs a quarterback, that clinician or medical practice that someone can go to for all their medical care issues,” family practitioner Dr. Bryan Woodward said. “There's a whole host of things that we do and usually that's done at an annual physical.”
And finally, you need to CONNECT.
“Having a great support system is excellent for your mental health; that's No. 1,” said success coach Susan Flowers. “And a wonderful thing to have as well is your faith because your faith is a way for you to turn inwards and connect with yourself.“
Through this series, we hope that you discover new ways to balance the five pillars of total body wellness so you can live life to the fullest.
