CHARLOTTE -- Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason was arrested Monday and faces a misdemeanor assault charge.
In a report filed with Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the alleged victim told officers that Beason punched him in the face during a fight in the early morning of Nov. 16 at the Uptown Cabaret.
The incident happened hours after the Panthers defeated Atlanta 28-19 at Bank of America Stadium.
The team wouldn't comment on the specifics, but general manager Marty Hurney released a statement that reads, “We were aware of the police department looking into the incident and have addressed it with Jon. At this time there appears to be two different versions of what happened.”
Beason was released on a written notice to appear in court at a later date.
