DURHAM -- The holiday season kicks off Friday night in downtown Durham as the American Tobacco Campus lights the 135-year-old Lucky Strike Tower.
The event will feature holiday music and live performances, and nearly 500 luminaries will be lit courtesy of Girl Scout Troop 514.
The festivities start at 7 p.m., and the first 500 people on the lawn will receive a free light wand.
Durham will hold its annual holiday parade Saturday. It begins at 4 p.m. on the corner of Blackwell and Jackie Robinson streets at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and American Tobacco Historic District.
