CHARLOTTE -- Assault charges against Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason were dropped Friday.

Beason was accused of punching a man in the face at least twice last month at the Uptown Cabaret. The accuser, Gregory Frye, says the incident happened after the Panthers’ Nov. 15 win against Atlanta.

Beason always denied the accusations.

"We are obviously pleased and it validates what Jon told us from the beginning," said Panthers general manager Marty Hurney.
