CHARLOTTE – A Charlotte-Mecklenburg school teacher was found dead inside his southwest Charlotte home Tuesday morning.

Police found 38-year-old Anthony Davis, a teacher at Randolph Middle School, while making a welfare check. They were let into his home on Lady Liberty Lane by a relative who was trying to get in touch with Davis.

Police have not released the cause of death, however, Davis’ car is missing. The car is 2007 Ford Edge that’s either silver or gray in color with North Carolina license plate XWE-2401.

“The investigation is still really early on and there’s still some issues we’re trying to work through there,” Allan Rutledge, with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, said.

Anyone with information that could help police is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.

Davis was an 11-year CMS employee. A letter was sent home with students and extra grief counselors were on campus. They will be back Wednesday.
