Deidra Lane pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the murder of her husband, NFL running back Fred Lane.

She got the maximum sentence of seven years and 11 months after a judge ruled that Fred Lane's murder was premeditated and deliberate.

Deidra Lane's lawyers contended she was abused by her husband and feared for her life and for the safety of her newborn daughter.

After her release, she will serve supervised probation, which her family requested be carried out in South Carolina.
