CHARLOTTE – The sale of 37 flood-prone homes to Mecklenburg County is now complete.
The homes were damaged by devastating floods from Tropical Storm Fay in August and September last year.
The county used nearly $4 million in Charlotte-Mecklenburg stormwater services capital and nearly $2 million of unspent Mecklenburg County park and recreation bond funds to purchase the properties.
Four homeowners turned down the county's offer to buy their homes.
