CHARLOTTE -- Teen sensation Demi Lovato performed a private concert on Friday night for 5,000 fans at Time Warner Cable Arena.

The 16-year-old star entertained the crowd with songs from her solo album entitled “Don’t Forget.” In addition to being a talented singer, Lovato also stars in the Disney Channel hit series “Sonny with a Chance.”

“I feel like my music and also the TV show is just an opportunity to inspire people for me, rather than just showcasing singing and acting or anything like that,” said Lovato. “To me, I just want to eventually make a difference."

The fans who attended the concert were families from the Mayor’s Mentoring Alliance, along with select Time Warner Cable customers.
