CHARLOTTE – CMS and CPCC may get even less money than previously thought.
Harry Jones, Mecklenburg County manager, recently released his recommended budget for next year. It includes major cuts to the education system.
The budget would cut about 10 percent from the budget of CMS. That comes to some $34 million. Meanwhile, CPCC would see a cut of about 9 percent, or $2.5 million.
As it stands now, Dr. Peter Gorman’s budget includes $351 million from the county. Now, the superintendent will need to cut that dramatically.
The school board is expected to vote on Gorman’s budget next week.
