CHARLOTTE – The planning continues for the First Ward Park in uptown Charlotte.
The project, which will be near Brevard Street between 7th Street and 9th Street, will include a park, offices underground and aboveground parking and the UNC Charlotte Center City Campus.
Recently, Mecklenburg County leaders said they couldn’t afford to pay for the park, so city leaders are considering whether to partner with the county in covering some of the park’s costs.
Council members will make a decision about possible changes later this month. Construction for the park is scheduled to start in January.
