Charlotte leaders concerned over state budget impact
CHARLOTTE – Queen City leaders want to know how the state’s budget will impact Charlotte. They’re meeting with Mecklenburg County’s delegation to discuss the issue Monday morning.
Both the N.C. House and Senate are working to hash out the final budget this week. Charlotte’s officials want to know not only how it will impact the city, but they also say they want more clarity on the Senate’s approval of a continuing budget resolution.
Earlier this month, council approved its own spending plan. The nearly $1.9 billion budget does not include a property tax increase but does hike water rates by more than 5 percent. It also freezes pay for city workers.
There’s no word on which state Senate and House members will meet with Charlotte officials.
