CHARLOTTE – One school is leaving the CMS Achievement Zone, while another school is joining it.
The district says Sedgefield Middle School is the first school to improve enough to leave the categorization, after showing an 18 percent gain in reading scores last school year. Sedgefield now moves into the Central Learning Community.
John Taylor Williams Middle School will replace Sedgefield in the Achievement Zone this fall. The district says the school needs additional resources to help increase student achievement in reading and math.
