COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. – A young groom and two members of his wedding party died in a head-on collision with a drunk driver Saturday on Highway 214 in Columbus County.

The state highway patrol said 23-year-old Brandon Tedder, 19-year-old Brandon Mintz and 13-year-old Daniel Skyes all died at the scene.

Tedder was scheduled to be married just one hour after the accident. Family members said Tedder and his fiance were together for seven years and were high school sweethearts.

Investigators said 43-year-old John Daniel Kelly was driving drunk when he crossed the center line and slammed into the other car.

Kelly and his 17-year-old son were taken to the hospital. Both are expected to be OK. Kelly is charged with DWI and other charges are currently pending.
