JACKSONVILLE – Dozens gathered at Jacksonville's USO Saturday to hear the National Research Council talk about past drinking water contamination at Camp Lejeune.
Health officials think as many as 1 million people may have been exposed to water toxins from certain Camp Lejeune wells from the 1950s until 1985.
Saturday's briefing focused on two industrial solvents in the water supply that have been linked to various disorders.
The council's new report said there's not enough scientific evidence to determine whether health problems among people exposed to the water are due to the contaminates.
The report adds further research probably won't provide definite answers and that policy change or actions addressing exposures should not be delayed.
