FORT BRAGG – Police are trying to find the mother of an abandoned newborn in the Fort Bragg area.

Police found the baby boy in the St. Mere Eglise neighborhood around 4 p.m. Thursday. They say his umbilical cord was still attached, and he was taken to Womack Army Medical Center.

There’s no word on the child’s condition, but he was last seen with a young woman with medium length, dirty blond hair. Anyone who knows where or who she is can call police.
