FAYETTEVILLE – A fiery accident on Interstate 95 in Cumberland County on Monday night is still causing some problems for drivers.

State troopers say it began when a semi-truck stopped to avoid the driver of a pick-up truck that had run out of gas. A tanker-truck following hit the stopped semi-truck, crashed into the guard rail and caught fire.

The tanker-truck driver, 56-year-old Frankie Graves of Goldsboro, was airlifted to the hospital with burns on 40 percent of his body. No one else was hurt.

Interstate 95 North still saw some closures Tuesday morning, though southbound lanes were open.
