CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Orange County government employees are doing their part to fight crime.
Organizers designed a new community safety partnership to reduce criminal activity in the county. Employees in various departments will be trained to report reckless driving, water main breaks and crimes.
Police say having more trained eyes on the streets will help keep Orange County safe.
"Crews from these different departments will be the eyes and ears for us, said Brian Curran. “And be a real good just extra set of folks looking out there to help keep the community safe."
Police and fire departments will provide the training, which is expected to wrap up at the end of the month.
