ZEBULON, N.C. – A first grade teacher in Wake County is now behind bars facing charges he acted inappropriately with a child.

The Zebulon Police Department charged 50-year-old George Johnson with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child. Officials say he had inappropriate contact with a 7-year-old female student at Wakelon Elementary in May.

School leaders say Johnson resigned June 12. He is now being held in the Wake County jail on $70,000 bail.
