Sen. Dole speaks at Triad graduation
Sen. Elizabeth Dole
GREENSBORO -- Sen. Elizabeth Dole was in the Triad Sunday to address the graduates at Greensboro College. College officials say Dole is one of the world's Top Ten most admired women and they couldn't think of anyone better to address this crowd on Mother's Day.
"It's so exciting and I am glad it's finally over," said Greensboro College graduate Jennifer Morton. " [At}Greensboro College, everybody is just like a family. I hate to be leaving everybody, but we're all going to keep in touch."
Not only was it Mother's Day, but Sen. Dole was on hand to inspire the latest class of 2007.

"I hope you graduates will place no boundaries on your goals and aspirations," Dole said. "I believe one's dreams are only limited by their imagination -- not by the hurdles encountered along the way."
Dole told the graduates about some of the hurdles she overcame along the way, including being one of very few women in her law school and becoming a political figure. She also reminded the crowd what really matters in the end.
"It won't be the cars you drove, or the titles you held or the awards you were given that will matter most. It's character, integrity, a caring heart and compassionate concern for your fellow man."
Greensboro College President Dr. Craven Williams followed Sen. Dole's comments about success and reminded the graduates to always want more than just success.
"There are a lot of people in this world; there are a lot of people in this audience who have found success. There are not many people in this world who have significance,” Dr. Craven said.
And these graduates say their significance starts with their graduation.
“Completion, basically the end of a long journey, and I am just glad to be graduated,” said graduate Arlene Owens.
While they may not know what lies ahead of them, the combined messages from Sen. Dole and President Williams gave the graduates something to think about.
As part of the ceremony, Sen. Dole was awarded an honorary Doctor of Law Degree from Greensboro College.
