Zoo to add more space for elephants
ASHEBORO, N.C. -- The North Carolina Zoo wants to change the future by preserving the present.
The number of elephants worldwide has dropped by 50 percent in the last century, and now the animal is on the endangered species list. Officials at the zoo hope a new $8.5 million expansion will save the species.
News 14 Carolina’s Adrianne Flores caught up with zoo spokesman Rod Hackney to discuss why the extra room is so important to the elephants. Watch the video for the full interview.
