RALEIGH -- A pregnant Wake county mother who was killed while delivering newspapers died from a single stab wound to the neck, according to an autopsy report released Thursday.

Jennifer Nielsen, who was eight months pregnant when she was found dead June 14 behind a Raleigh convenience store, had been delivering copies of USA Today in the early morning hours. A stab wound penetrated 3.7 inches, perforating a neck vein and artery, according to the report by the state Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill.

The autopsy report did not say whether Nielsen had been sexually assaulted, although the report says her pants and underwear had been pulled down.

Authorities have said they found a bloody knife less than a block from the murder scene.
