CHARLOTTE -- A sanitation worker was fatally shot Thursday morning while on the job in a neighborhood near Lake Wylie.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say a male suspect -- Justus Dane Moss -- shot the man -- Demetrio Calvillo -- with a small-caliber handgun around 9:30 a.m. in the Point Lookout neighborhood. The suspect was taken into custody.

The victim was a private sanitation worker for A Sani Can, based out of Denver, N.C., and not an employee of the city of Charlotte.

According to CMPD, the victim was located inside a vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. Anyone with information can call CrimeStoppers at 704-334-1600.
