Woman pleads guilty to computer fraud

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.C. -- A Cabarrus County woman has pleaded guilty to wire and computer fraud in a case that involves intercepting corporate e-mails.

Authorities say 49-year-old Teresa Treadaway, of Mount Pleasant, was fired from her job at Greensboro-based Ecoflo in October 2003. After being fired, they say she began monitoring the e-mail activity of workers at Ecoflo from home.

In 2005, Treadaway went to work for a competitor and continued to look at Ecoflo e-mails, apparently going so far as to intercept their bid for a job. Authorities say Treadaway was able to win the contract for that job based on having the Ecoflo information.

Treadaway faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. She will be sentenced in November.
