Guilford tests new teaching technology
GREENSBORO – Guilford County teachers were the first in the nation to get a look at a new interactive learning technology designed by a Greensboro-based company.
New Xperience Entertainment brought their concept of a Mobile Cinema Park to the classroom Thursday night with lights, music and hands-on activities.
"Our tech team comes in and they set up a special silver screen, laser lighting, the 3D glasses, the interactive remotes and they engage in the program," New Xperience Entertainment Vice President Tamika Bain said.
The concept originated in Israel and can also be found in Poland, Mexico and Korea. There are several different videos that cover subjects like astronomy, animals and even substance abuse.

"We'll also have 'Addicted to Life,' which is a great program about the prevention of drugs and alcohol and making an informed decision not to use drugs," Bain said.
And teachers didn't hesitate to get involved.
"It's like National Geographic amped up. More exciting than any video I've ever shown in my classroom," Southwest Middle School Media Specialist Karen James said. "It will definitely keep the kids interested and involved."
Bain said that's the goal of the Mobile Cinema. She said their intent is not to replace the traditional curriculum, but enhance it.
"I think the second and third graders here in Guilford County, they look at the solar system, they learn about the solar system first," Bain said. "So this is a great teaching tool that the teachers can use."
