Grocery list helps healthy shoppers
Experts said making a healthy grocery shopping list will make it easier to navigate through thousands of items at the store and to bring home healthier foods.
They said with a grocery list in hand, you won’t be as likely to wander the junk food aisles and make impulse purchases.
And they said to do the majority of your shopping in the outer aisles of the store and the perimeter because most of the processed and fatty foods tend to make their home in the inner aisles.
“The wellness keys that shoppers can find on select items helps show some of the nutrients in some of the foods that are available,” Dr. Russell Greenfield, a board certified physician specializing in integrative health, said.
Greenfield said many stores will help guide you with things like Harris Teeter’s “Your Wellness Initiative,” which gives shoppers information and outlines a 15-week plan for healthy living.
“One of the things about the holidays is that we tend to overeat and not exercise as much as we should,” Greenfield said. “So again, everything in moderation, and back off a little bit and get that exercise on a regular basis.”
