HAMPSTEAD, N.C. -- Some high school students along the coast are kicking off 2009 at a new school.
Monday, about 1,100 students headed to class at the new Topsail High. The $34-million school sits on 40 acres of land and includes two gyms as well as the first auditorium built in the county since 1937.
The town of Hampstead waited two years for the completion of the school. This is the first new high school since the early 1970s.
