CHARLOTTE – North Carolina Employment Security Commission officials said the job market is crowded with applicants and that it’s important for job seekers to stand out and apply for positions early.
Now some job seekers are using the Web site TweetMyJobs.com as an online service that pairs the social networking capacity of Twitter, an online social site, with online job search services.
“Pick a location and job type you are interested in, you subscribe to that. Any time a new job comes out on TweetMyJobs.com, it will automatically be sent to your cell phone,” Web site developer Gary Zukowski said.
Mecklenburg County employment security commission manager Antwon Keith said that kind of instantaneous job alert may be just what job seekers need to stay ahead of other applicants.
Keith said unemployed workers should explore and exhaust every opportunity available to find work. But he said older applicants who are now flooding his office could have a hard time being online.
Regardless, Zukowski’s new site and service has been a hit.
You can create a free account on the Web site’s homepage.
Zukowski said he hopes to formally partner with the employment security commission soon.
