GASTON COUNTY, N.C. – After spending thousands of dollars to renovate their church, members of Finish Line Christian Center in Lowell, N.C. said they’re getting kicked out of the location they lease.

Shannon Williams, the church’s pastor, said the property owner gave them only ten days to leave.

Williams said he was told the owner’s daughter, who runs the bar and grill next door, wants the extra space.

Church leaders said they did not sign a lease.

Williams said he planned on being in the location for a while. The walls freshly painted and new lights installed overhead, he said the renovations added up.

But after learning of the eviction, members said they were more concerned about their pastor.

Williams said the church did find a new place to worship. But he said the rent is $200 more a month and he expects the congregation will have to do another round of renovations.
