Investigators identify victim of weekend lake drowning

WENTWORTH, N.C. – The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office has identified the man who drowned in Belews Lake Saturday night.
Police say Christopher McMichael, of Stoneville, went swimming around 6:30 p.m. when a friend saw him go under. Authorities from three counties searched for the man.
The Guilford Association of Scuba Diver Professionals recovered the body just after 8 p.m.
Police say there were reports the victim had been drinking prior to going swimming. The body has been sent to Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
