Weekend Morning Anchor/Reporter
Email: Cassie.Safrit@news14.com
Cassie joined the News 14 Carolina team in September 2006, as the morning weekend anchor, and she says she’s so excited to be back in her home state. She says you just can’t beat the people or beauty of North Carolina.
Cassie grew up in Salisbury, NC, where her parents still live. While she’s an only child, she has an abundance of extended family members who live in Rowan County.
Cassie graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, with a degree in broadcast journalism and sport studies. During college, she interned for WGHP Fox 8 in Highpoint/Greensboro and the Kannapolis Intimidators Class-A baseball team. She also spent a semester studying abroad in Seville, Spain.
Cassie started her journalism career at WYMT in Hazard, KY, as an anchor and reporter. While there, she covered a story that caught major national media attention- the Darby coal mine disaster. She also won a KY Associated Press award for continuing news coverage on a series about a troubled animal shelter.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, working out, cooking, and traveling. She's excited to experience all Raleigh has to offer.
Cassie says there’s no place quite like North Carolina, and she looks forward to meeting many of you. Feel free to email her with story ideas at Cassie.Safrit@news14.com.
