Heather Waliga
Heather Waliga joined News 14 Carolina as Weekend Anchor in March 2008.

Before making the move to the Queen City, she worked as a weekend anchor and reporter at WJHG-TV in Panama City, Florida. During her time there, she covered everything from county commission to the ongoing legal proceedings involving "Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis, which caught national media attention.

Heather's reporting on the Emerald Coast earned her awards for "Best Spot News" and "Individual Achievement" from the Florida Associated Press. She also received an AP award for her investigative coverage of recalled food products in local convenience stores.

Heather graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in Communications and a minor in Political Science. She is a true Vols fan and is convinced her blood runs orange.

Heather got her start in broadcast television anchoring and reporting for the news magazine program "UT Today." She also interned alongside a talented crew of journalists at WBIR-TV in Knoxville.
Heather is the education reporter for News 14 Carolina. She's excited to call the Tar Heel State her new home and looks forward to serving the community. If you see her out, say hello!
