Anchor/Reporter Lisa Reyes
A morning person, Lisa Reyes keeps Carolinians informed when they wake up. She joined News 14 Carolina in December 2003 as the morning reporter. In June of 2006 she was promoted to Weekend Anchor.
She is a native New Yorker and proud Puerto Rican.
After graduating magna cum laude from New York University with a bachelor's degree in mass communication and broadcast journalism, Lisa took a job at News 14's sister station, NY1, as a news assistant and segment producer. While there, she helped one of the reporters put together a best-selling book entitled: Rudy Giuliani: Emperor of the City. She also spent time at Fox News Channel as a planning editor before taking a turn in front of the camera.
Her reporting career began at KBIM in Roswell, New Mexico. Her coverage of wildfires earned her an award for Best Breaking News from the New Mexico Associated Press. She also spent time reporting in Fort Myers, Florida before landing in the Queen City.
Lisa covers stories facing the growing Hispanic community. She worked closely with police to break a story about prostitution houses popping up in East Charlotte. After a fatal drunk driving accident, Lisa spoke with the accused man in Spanish as he asked the family for forgiveness.
When she isn't working, Lisa likes to travel, cook and dance...she's even learned the Carolina Shag.
She lives in Charlotte with her Maltese, Cairo.
