Watch as competitors get ready for the 48-hour Film Festival.
GREENSBORO -- The 48-hour film project is underway this weekend Greensboro, and 45 teams of film makers are frantically working around the clock to get their masterpieces completed.
Each team has 48 hours to write, film and edit a short film, with genres chosen at random. This is the fourth year Greensboro has taken part in the international competition.
"The Triad area is a very popular area for independent film makers,” said Suzan Magee, who is part of this year’s competition. “We have usually the same amount of team members as cities as large as Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago. We usually compete pretty well neck-and-neck with those cities.”
Teams are made up of competitors all over the state. Once they get their film genre, such as comedy, action or drama, it’s time to kick production into gear.
Challenge coming to an end.
“You have to work incredible fast,” said Alexandra Terhorst. Her team, Cliché Name, pulled the drama genre out of the hat. “You have to be flexible because you have a lot of ideas in the room. A lot of our team members have never worked together before, but, on a positive note, that’s what makes this so much fun.”
The filmmakers are given until 7:30 p.m. Sunday night to hand over their film. All films will be screened next Saturday at Greensboro’s Carolina Theatre.
