RALEIGH -- An illegal immigrant pleaded guilty Thursday to driving drunk on Interstate 40 in June and causing a deadly wrong-way crash.
Ricardo De La Torre, 24, will serve two to three years for the crime.
Authorities say De La Torre crossed the median on I-40 near Wade Avenue and crashed into two westbound cars during the morning rush.
George Smith, 54, was killed and Carolyn Hageman, 35, of Apex, was injured.
