News 14 Carolina's Ann Forte is in Chapel Hill with more on Wednesday's search committee meeting.
CHAPEL HILL -- A University of North Carolina search committee will meet again Wednesday to look for a successor for outgoing chancellor James Moeser.
The committee is made up of members of the university's board of trustees, alumni, faculty, students and staff.
UNC chancellor James Moeser announced in September that he was stepping down from the post.
Moeser announced in September that he was stepping down from the post. He came to UNC from the University of Nebraska and brought with him some changes, among them the Carolina Covenant, a program that allows students from low-income families to attend the university and graduate debt-free and the Carolina First Campaign, a $2.2 billion fund-raising effort.
Moeser's last day is June 30. He plans to take a year off before returning as a professor.
The search committee hired a consulting firm to assist with filling the chancellor post. It's also heard from the community during a series of public forums.
Once the committee selects a candidate, they will make their recommendation to UNC system president Erskine Bowles, who will then take it to the board of governors.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the Carolina Inn.
