CHARLOTTE -- Congratulations are in order as thousands UNC Charlotte students received their diplomas on Saturday. Like schools across the state, they were saying goodbye to the last class of 2007.
Parents and graduates alike have good reason to be proud.
"Today was great man, everybody graduated, the families participated. It was a great experience. Someone like me, I came a long way, so I am really proud of myself and I’m proud of my peers,” said UNCC graduate Jermel Wiggins.
Students from North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina Central University, and Meredith college also dressed in a cap and gown Saturday.
Winston-Salem State University held its winter commencement ceremonies Friday.
UNC Chapel Hill will hold its winter commencement ceremonies Sun., Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. N.C. State University will follow on Dec. 19, and UNC Greensboro will hold ceremonies on the Dec. 20.
Congratulations as well to News 14 Carolina employee and UNC Charlotte alumnus Michael Parks who donned his own cap and gown and graduated on Saturday.
