By: News 14 Carolina Staff; Onslow County Sheriff's Office

Maria Lauterbach
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – An eight months pregnant Marine is missing from Camp Lejeune.

Maria Lauterbach, 20, is with the 2nd Marine Logistics Group. She was reported missing by her mother, Mary, on December 19, 2007. She said that her daughter is stationed at Camp Lejeune and she was very suspicious that something bad may have happened to her daughter. Maria's mother said that Maria was a witness in an incident that had occurred on the base and Maria was supposed to testify in the proceedings.

The SBI and NCIS have been called in to assist and they are continuing to provide technical and investigative assistance.

There are several findings and pieces of evidence that have been discovered that cause law enforcement to be concerned with the circumstances surrounding Maria's disappearance.

Anyone who comes in contact with the victim or locates her vehicle, a blue, four-door 2006 Hyundai Sonata with the N.C. registration WZN-4597, is asked to contact the Onslow County Sheriff's Department at 910-455-3113.

People with information also can contact Crime Stoppers at 910-938-3273. Those callers do not have to reveal their identities.
