Man charged in death of nurse's aide

CHARLOTTE -- Police arrested a Rock Hill, S.C., man in connection with the death of a nurse’s aide at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville.
They arrested Jesus Rangel, 26, at his apartment complex in Rock Hill on Thursday afternoon and charged him with murder. He is being held at the Mecklenburg County jail.
Officers said Virginia Yvonne Sanchez, 23, was found dead Wednesday night in a car in the hospital's parking lot. Police are investigating her death as a homicide and said it looks like she was strangled.
Sanchez and Rangel did know each other, according to police.
Carolinas Healthcare System said it has extra security at its Pineville facility to reassure employees, patients and visitors that safety is its top priority.
Rangel’s first court appearance is Monday at 1 p.m.
