Dr. Linda Brady will take over on Aug. 1.
GREENSBORO -- The University of North Carolina System board of governors elected Dr. Linda Brady chancellor of UNC Greensboro on Thursday in Chapel Hill.
Brady is currently the senior vice president and provost at the University of Oregon. Before that, she served as dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at North Carolina State from 2001-2006.
Speaking to faculty and reporters, Dr. Linda Brady said UNC president Erskine Bowles' offer struck a chord with her.

"’Linda, this is Erskine, I'd like to offer you a chance to come home,’" she said. “How could anyone refuse an offer like that?”
Brady has also served for both the U.S. Department of State and Department of Defense. She will take over Patricia Sullivan's role as chancellor on Aug 1.
