A grand jury decided there wasn't enough evidence to charge Reid.
SMITHFIELD, N.C. -- Nanette Brown wants her voice to be heard. She and other protestors lined up in front of the Johnston County Courthouse to protest her brother Cornelius Brown's death.
"Nobody should be ran down like a dog, and nothing be done about it," she said.
Authorities say Brown died after his car was struck by a pick-up truck. John Reid, the truck's driver, said he saw Brown and another car speeding off his property when he tried to stop them with his truck. Brown tried to get out of his car -- when Reid's truck pinned him up against a pole.
A grand jury decided there wasn't enough evidence to charge Reid.

"Surrounding all the information it’s definitely racially motivated," continued Brown. But authorities say those facts are what led to the grand jury's decision.
"Race was not a factor in the decision at all. We had so many concerns about charging in this case based on the evidence alone. We had issues of excessive force, we had issues of approximate cause of death, and we had issues about a homeowners right to defend his property," said Johnston County District Attorney Susan Doyle.
Still, Brown says the system hasn't defended her brother, so she'll continue to spearhead rallies until it does.
In the meantime, Doyle says the case won't re-open.
