CONCORD, N.C. -- Police hope 911 tapes released Monday will help them identify a suspect in last week’s fatal double shooting at the SunDrop Bottling Company.

Donna Barnhardt, 59, and Darrell Noles, 44, were shot and killed at the plant Friday morning. Police think robbery was the motive but they still have no suspects.

On the tapes, two SunDrop employees are heard asking operators for help while giving as many details about the scene as they can. One worker saw the victims on the floor and the other heard a noise that he didn’t realize until later was gunfire.

One witness said he saw someone running from the scene.

Dispatcher: Sir, can you tell, did you see anything? Anybody leaving the office or anything else going on? Anybody having an argument?

Witness: No, I seen a black boy going across the field but he had a box, but, I don’t know, just a young boy.

Donna Barnhardt, 59, and Darrell Noles, 44, were shot and killed at the plant Friday morning.
“That was one of the first descriptions that we received of the possible suspect and we put that out through (the media) immediately,” said deputy chief Guy Smith of the Concord Police Department. “We certainly went to the area where the employee described the gentleman going to.”

The funeral for Noles will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bright Light Baptist Church in Concord. A visitation is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the church

Barnhardt’s funeral for will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wilmar Park Baptist Church in Concord. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
