J.J. Arrington
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Arizona Cardinals running back J.J. Arrington, a former star athlete in North Carolina from Northern Nash High School, was arrested after a nightclub fight in Rocky Mount.
Arrington, 25, was one of five people arrested after an off-duty officer called for assistance around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the D&I Center nightclub after a fight broke out. He was charged with disorderly conduct.
Nash County sheriff's Sgt. T.R. Lamm said a magistrate later ordered Arrington held for 24 hours for contempt of court.
The four others arrested were charged with simple affray. One was also charged with assault on a government official.
Arrington just completed his third year in the National Football League. He attended the University of California during college and was selected with the 44th pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2005 NFL draft.
