Famous T.V. personality takes the leap

MAXTON, N.C. -- For about 260 days a year, the U.S. Army's Golden Knight parachute team travels around the country promoting the Army while jumping out of planes.
Sometimes, they’ll take along someone famous. In the past they've done jumps with sports stars like Tiger Woods, television personalities like Ann Curry of NBC’s “Today” Show, and even former presidents like George H.W. Bush.
On Wednesday, they added another famous name to the list - national television personality Geraldo Rivera.
Before the jump, they strapped him into the gear, gave him a short training course, and then they were off into the skies.
"Alright Geraldo, we're at 13,500 feet," said one paratrooper while the group was flying.
"I'm ready," Rivera replied.
"You're ready?"

"I'm not nervous at all, but my mustache is terrified," Rivera said, laughing.
After exiting the aircraft, the first 60 seconds of the jump were in free fall.
"You just feel like you're an eagle up there,” Rivera said later. “You feel like you could do anything, feel like you could soar anywhere.
“It's almost a disappointment when the chute opens."
But after it did open, they floated to the ground in about five minutes, before a safe landing. Rivera’s response upon landing: “Awesome, baby!”
And though he’s jumped out of airplanes before, he says he's never been alongside a group as talented as the Golden Knights.
"It's the best in the world, the best there are anywhere, and I'm just proud to be with them," he said.
Rivera had a cameraman with him to shoot video of the jump for his show on Fox News.
