CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police want to alert the public to a rash of car thefts in north Charlotte. They say that since last week eight cars have been stolen.

Five of the eight were all Dodges and most of the crimes happened in apartment complexes.

The crimes happened between the Plaza and Sugar Creek out to Milton Road and East W.T. Harris Boulevard. Police recommend using a steering wheel anti-theft device and taking all valuables out of cars.

Any one who sees suspicious behavior can call police.
