Camping away the holiday weekend
Falls Lake is one of a number of camping places in the Raleigh area.
RALEIGH -- The Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer for many people, and a lot of them will enjoy the holiday while camping. Sites near the three main lakes close to Raleigh are open for business, and parks and recreation officials are ready for customers.
Though heavy rain fell in the area this week, officials at Falls Lake, Jordan Lake and Kerr Lake have reported no flooding. Now they are hoping campers come out and enjoy the weekend with them.

Campsites were still available at all three recreational places as of Friday morning. They go on a first come, first serve basis.
Besides hoping for busy campsites, officials are also getting ready for a busy weekend on the waterways. Wildlife officers will be patrolling the lakes in force for the holiday. They’re encouraging boaters to take extra precautions because there will be more traffic on the lakes.
There’s still a slight chance of rain for the weekend. To stay on top of the weather forecast, tune in to News 14 Carolina’s Weather on the Ones.
