RALEIGH – Some N.C. State students have traded in the comfort of their bedrooms this week for a shack.

The annual Shackathon kicked off on NCSU’s campus Monday. Students raise money by bidding on a spot to build their wooden shack and asking for donations from people passing through the area.

Last year, the event raised more than $24,000.
